How Much Does a Luxury Kitchen Remodel Cost in Phoenix and Scottsdale?

Real 2026 cost ranges for high-end kitchen remodels across the Phoenix metro, what actually drives the number up or down, and where the money goes on a true luxury kitchen.

The Short Answer

Luxury kitchen remodels in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and the broader Phoenix metro typically run $80,000 to $200,000 or more, depending on layout changes, cabinetry, and appliance tier. On a per-square-foot basis, a true luxury kitchen runs roughly $400 to $600+ per square foot, which includes materials, labor, permits, and design.

That is a wide range on purpose. A refresh of an already-good layout and a full gut-and-reconfigure of a cramped 1990s kitchen are both "luxury kitchen remodels," and they are not the same project.

What "Luxury" Actually Costs Per Square Foot

For extra-large kitchens (250+ square feet) in premium Phoenix-metro homes, typical high-end projects run $150,000 to $300,000+, depending on structural scope. Smaller luxury kitchens can land at the lower end of the range if the existing layout, plumbing, and electrical are already in reasonable shape.

The single biggest cost variable, more than any material choice, is whether you are moving plumbing and walls or keeping the existing footprint.

Where the Money Actually Goes

Custom cabinetry. Semi-custom and full-custom cabinetry, painted or stained finishes, inset or overlay doors. This is usually the single largest line item in a luxury kitchen.

Countertops and stone. Quartz, quartzite, granite, and marble all price differently, and book-matched or waterfall-edge installations add meaningfully to fabrication and installation cost.

Appliances. Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, and Miele are the names that show up repeatedly in luxury kitchens. A professional-grade appliance package alone can run well into five figures before installation.

Layout changes. Moving a sink, relocating a range, or removing a wall to open the kitchen to a living space means new plumbing runs, new electrical circuits, and often structural work — all of which cost far more than swapping finishes in place.

Design and 3D rendering. A real design-build process includes a full photorealistic 3D walkthrough before demolition, so every material and layout decision is made and approved before construction starts, not discovered as a change order mid-project.

A Realistic Budget Breakdown

For a mid-to-large luxury kitchen remodel with a layout change, a rough allocation looks like:

  • Cabinetry: roughly a third of the budget
  • Countertops and stone: 10–15%
  • Appliances: 10–20%, depending on brand tier
  • Plumbing, electrical, and any structural work: 15–25%
  • Flooring, lighting, tile, and finish carpentry: the remainder

These are directional, not a quote. A kitchen that keeps its existing footprint will shift heavily away from the plumbing/electrical/structural line and toward finishes.

A Current Market Factor Worth Knowing

Material costs in this category are moving. Tariffs on imported wooden kitchen cabinets and cabinet components took effect in late 2025 and are affecting current cabinetry pricing across the industry, not just in Arizona. If cabinetry is a large share of your budget, it is worth locking in selections and pricing sooner rather than waiting, since this is one of the more volatile line items right now.
